Featured Artists & Exhibitions
Rita Colantonio
Cape Cod, United States based Rita Colantonio selects spaces containing both the human presence together with many of the places we occupy, café's, benches, windows. Colantonio loves wandering the streets, to just go out for a stroll, as the French would say, Flânerie and in doing so, through her work, she allows us to soak up the details and atmosphere that may otherwise pass us by. Many of the locations are from Venice and the romance of the city plays out in these interludes, so much so we can almost feel ourselves touching, what has gone before. Colantonio's images provide a personal take on forms and lines bringing to light exciting visuals, vigorous blends of geometry with the contemporary grace of a choreographed performance.
Susan Latty
Susan Latty is a visual artist working in Sydney, Australia, she primarily uses the medium of mobile photography and art to create portraits of flowers with meticulous attention to detail. Each image captured in her signature style is the result of her artist exploration of emotional transition as time transcends shifts of experiences, often invisible to outsiders but nevertheless deeply felt. Containing the necessary traces of people, whilst being physically absent, her work discreetly leads the viewer to the threshold of a quiet unanticipated, silent introspection. Each photograph implores the viewer to stop for a few minutes and soak in the details that can go unseen in the everyday. Sensitive to the omnipresent vibrations of life influx, she embraces each image with a timeless and serene aesthetic.
Jane Schultz
Multi Award Winning Mobile Photographer, Jane Schultz’s stunning art reflects identity formation, grounded picture by picture, with individual life stories. These images are not rigid, they’re not bound by social classifications, they represent freedom of expression. Schultz has discovered a novel way of viewing herself and her culture and for the viewer, it enables us to savour a very unique series of work, that touches the depths of our souls.
Peter Wilkin
To have someone interpret our story, to know what we've endured, experienced, sustained and to vocalise it back to us, is what we all most long for. Peter Wilkin's art meets us at this level, perhaps offering the ultimate allure, to have our own story retold to us. Yearning, moribund, caring, all brush up against each other in this selection of art, you can edge right up to it, be captivated, with another, through another, into the purest vestal from where we came.
Wilkin's previous occupation as apsychotherapist has much to do with his understanding of our needs to be understood. His art radiates and throbs off the page, each one suggestive of another outcome, if the viewer approaches the art with inner knowledge, then they will bask in a sort of awakening, a path, on which to return and reel from the bliss.
Anca Balaj
Anca Balaj is one of the finest mobile art draughtsman of her generation. As a visual creative, specialising in mobile photography and art direction, her practice combines a natural interest in academic research and literature to create a unique and radical style of mobile painting in which the conceptual meets the visual.
Balaj's art is created with an Apple iPad and is intended to be scaled up into larger works where her economic execution and whimsical expression reveal an intimate side to her practice. Her imagery is very direct, working empirically, 'inside an idea'.
Christine O Sobczak
The first thing that strikes you about Christine O Sobczak's photographs is their mesmerising beauty. Sobczak's technical ability is matched by a more intangible gift which gives her images a sense of stillness and quietude that is rare. For me, Sobczak's images evoke the hinterland between waking and dreaming, between the tangible and the oddly, unnervingly unreal. They hover there, reminding us of the sense of wonder photography carried in its early days: that alchemical power to captivate and transform.
Maria Cecilia de São Thiago
Maria Cecilia São Thiago's photographs are exquisite and allegorical in nature. Their vitality is instrumental in pulling the viewer into a very intimate world chronicling the self and beyond. Mysticism and spirituality have long informed São Thiago’s practice and she is refreshingly transparent about her work. She once told me, “my photos carry in each of them everything that I have learned, what I have lived, and what I have suffered”.
Sarah Bichachi
Sarah Bichachi's art underlines the concept of the impermanence of life - one of her main sources of inspiration. The processes of genesis, metamorphosis and inevitable disappearance, as well as the symbolic correspondences between earth and body, are her starting points. Bichachi's photographs offer great poetic beauty brought together in a superbly elegant and enigmatic way that compels a shiver of aesthetic pleasure and fear. Bichachi is a cancer survivor and each piece of art embodies her courage, resourcefulness, physical toughness, talent and relish. Her art is a springboard for a tremendously charismatic and muscular outstanding performance, brilliantly crafted and deliciously entertaining - a metaphor for the fleetingness of life. "True success radiates love, compassion... a sense of well being and a feeling of accomplishment not only for the body, but for the soul as well", she once confided to me.
Helen Breznik
“My photography is a place where there are no limits. A place where I can be fearless, where I can be whomever I like. Where I can escape from the ordinary to an idyllic world. I create characters that are not necessarily “me”, but they are a reflection of what appeals to me.”
—Helen Breznik, in conversation with Joanne Carter
John Nieto
Multi Award Winning Artist John Nieto is based in California, United States. His work can be considered an intersection between portraiture, conceptual, street and journalism - a crossroad on which he stresses multiple layers of time, history and motion that constitute our present. This collection offers a mode of aesthetic perception and representation that emphasises the openness of the future but also underlines any conception of the present as a mere replay of the past. Nieto's art invites viewers to probe the aesthetics of still images and to recalibrate their sense of time, his art is an event, it's an experience to view and to share.
Susan Rennie
“I am inspired by Susan Rennie’s photography, within each image I sense devotion, desire, wit, uncompromising passion and a frantic climax that accumulates as a photographic portfolio of a creative life, well lived and very well observed”. Joanne Carter, the Founder and Editorial Director of TheAppWhisperer.
Paul Suciu
Paul Suciu works in the suspended moment and captures some sense of the invisible or at least the latent within his photographs. His work is a form of storytelling, his images visually narrate the viewer towards the conclusion, as if they were physically there. He has a unique visual sensibility with a quiet alertness that you can sense within his images, echoing his own presence as a photographer and that as a man. Many of his images combine architecture and transport with a human element, unifying a deeper conviction, to strive to create images that push beyond the expected. Ones that offer inventive and artful ways of looking at the relationship between the architectural environment and the humans that inhabit them.
Glenn Homann
There's resilience to Homann's photography, both in terms of the art that he creates and atmospheric scenes he portrays. Homann's utopias portray a society that's forward and bold and at the same time, he's part of a breed of photographers who are scrupulous, serious and respectful of urban history offering distinct visual dynamism to each composition.
Gianluca Ricoveri
"Multi award winning, Italian landscape mobile photographer, Gianluca Ricoveri knows there are thousands of ways of making love, perhaps there’s only one way of making ‘art-love’. Art for Gianluca Ricoveri is the concrete embodiment of love, it is what lovers create. Ricoveri’s art is superbly accomplished, it fulfils and there’s something overwhelmingly spiritual about his work. It tugs us forward, yearning for more, suspended in passion with revelations to its hurricane climax". Joanne Carter, the Founder and Editorial Director of TheAppWhisperer.
Lorenka Campos
Lorenka Campos has progressively established herself as a fine art mobile photographer, winning awards and taking part in a number of exhibitions throughout the world. Her work is immensely captivating, her images show their inner selves and of the paradox they portray – the paradox of the unstoppable exposure of frailty against raw and enduring strength.
Jill Lian
Award winning Mobile Macro Photographer Jill Lian has captured a spectacular vision of close up photography, highlighting the tiny details, her images yield amazing results. She was part of Apple's Shot on iPhone - Colors Campaign for the iPhone 6s. Her snowflake photography was displayed in twenty six countries.
Sean Hayes
"Sean Hayes achieves an engaging style with his art, he not only manages to cross physical borders between countries but I feel, he has a sense of the emotional boundaries between people, his portraiture demonstrates a level of empathy with the subject that brings us into another’s world, another’s pain, another’s joy". Joanne Carter, the Founder and Editorial Director of TheAppWhisperer.
